Welcome to Rowing

Blue Coat is fortunate to be situated on the River Thames close to Sonning Lock and with a purpose built boat house on the school site it is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to row.

The rowing club is growing in numbers and has reached over 100 boys and girls who train competitively and represent the school at local and national level. Our oarsmen and women are distributed throughout Years 9 to Upper Sixth with the opportunity for the boys to try rowing for the first time as part of activities during year 8.

In 2019 for the first time ever Blue Coat had a girls eight racing at the big three rowing races, Schools Head of the River, National Schools Regatta and Henley Women's Regatta. In the same year the boys squad won two national medals and qualified through to the Thursday of Henley Royal Regatta for the first time in the schools history.
